Blueshifts and mimetic modes of behavior

                                                                                Installation work composed of a front room with photographs in various sizes, a passage with four layers of red velvet curtains and a darkened back room with a 50 min long video projected onto one of the walls.

The starting point for the project is six films connected due to their similarities concerning duality, merging identities and characters in need of new beginnings. Antichrist, Talented Mr Ripley, Persona, Mulholland Dr and Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind are in the center of a research revolving the relationship between the internal and external worlds. A subtle use of different symbols appeared upon closer examination of the films' structure. For example, the color blue recurs in several films as a sign of an upcoming transformation. 

The photographs and the video in the exhibition are interpretations and re-enactments of situations in the films. By using the artist’s own person and body to configure a number of roles another layer of acting is introduced. The main character of the video slips in and out of roles that she plays more or less convincing. Image clips pops up every now and then from a compact darkness but all the time voices from the original films are heard. They constitute a soundtrack composed of different quotes related to the concept of authenticity.
